Term 4 Week 1

Bonjour;

After a two week break we are back at school and lots of things are going to be taking place in the next nine and a half weeks. Some of these include Sailing, Grandparents Concert, WIMS, Final Assembly and many others.
What's on this term:
Week 1} On Tuesday morning, rooms 13, 14 and 15 left for camp at Lakewood Lodge. Nothing else major happened this week, expect for lunch time inter class touch games.
Week 2} In week two there is nothing on.
Week 3} On Monday of Week 3 there is Labour Day which means it is a public holiday and there is no school. On Wednesday there is WIMS speeches, which is a Waikato School's speech final.
Week 4} In Week 4 there is nothing happening.
Week 5} WIMS Softball and WIMS Theatre Sports is on this week and I'm pretty sure Week 5 on Friday we have Inter House athletics as well.
Week 6} Is Wearable Arts Evening
Week 7} Nothing is on this week
Week 8} This week Room 9 goes on Waikato Camp. WIMS athletics is also on this week.
Week 9} This week nothing is on.
Week 10} This week nothing is on.
Week 11} This Tuesday Term 4 ends and the Christmas holidays start for a whole six weeks. :)

We are currently in Week One and this week on Monday we had a Powhiri and we also started athletics training in class with high jump in the ALC. On Tuesday we had Tech Arts first block and that is still Art.

On Wednesday Nicky Wise who does Life Education in her mobile classroom came to see us. She arrived on Monday morning. Nicky is here to teach give us a five lesson unit on Drugs. Today she gave us an intro in the Dance and Drama studio to tell us what we would be learning about in the mobile classroom. The intro lasted the whole first block and I learnt a lot of things. Did you know that 6 average bottles of alcohol can kill a person? Or that when you take marijuana, is stays in your body for 90 days after you have taken it?
We watched a cartooned video on the projector screen where a man, Trevor Grice talked about the topic of Drugs the whole way through. While he was talking, the video also put up animated people and pictures and videos to help us understand and make the video a bit more interesting.

At the moment for Maths, we are learning about Probability. Some of the words you use to predict the probability of something happening are these: Impossible, Possible, Certain, Likely, Unlikely. For example: What is the possibility of there being a cloud in the sky tomorrow? {With the weather at the moment, the answer would be {Certain} or {Likely}}

Term 3 | Reflection

Bonjour;

This post is going to be a reflection on everything that has happened this term, Term 3. Over the nine weeks of this term, a lot of events have taken place; sport, cultural, academic, trips and competitions.
Term 3 Reflection:
What happened:
In the first week of Term 3, no events took place, and the same in week two. But the dental nurse arrived and started checking teeth.
In the third week, WIMS started up for the term, and the first one was WIMS 7s rugby. There was also WIMS Band and Orchestra.
In Week four, there was another WIMS starting up, which was WIMS Cross Country. To get into this team, you had to trial, which I didn't, and seeing whether you got into the team or not depended on your time results. A few people from our class got in.
Week four was the week that the whole school had been practicing for, Interhouse Cross Country, the event that the whole school competed in.
In Week 6 was WIMS Netball trials started and the teams were decided. Some band students also went over to Murray's Bay for the night, to collaborate with another school with their band. There was also the Kapahaka Festival, which the Kapahaka students participated in.
Week 7 was the official AIMS Games for New Zealand, which is a major sporting event that happens once every year only. A lot of people went to that, which lasted for the whole week. There was also Year 8 HPV vaccinations, the third one this year, which I wasn't a part of.
Week 8 has a busy week, with lost of events going on. On Sunday the day before school started, the people going on Ski Trip left at 5:00 AM that morning. On Monday, everybody going to Sports Camp left for that, and they were gone for the whole week, playing sports. On Tuesday until Thursday was the Rural Schools Hockey tournament. There was also a catch up for HPV vaccinations on Tuesday that week. WIMS Kapahaka started on Wednesday and lasted for two days (Wednesday and Thursday).  Year 8 enrollments for Te Awamutu College also started up.
Week 9 was a busy-ish week. On Monday we listened to the Year 7 speech finals all last block. On Tuesday, the Murray's Bay students that we went over to see a few weeks ago came to our school and collaborated with our band again. In the two days and one night that they stayed at our school, they managed to put together a concert for us, which the whole school, except for Tech Art students, went and watched.
On Tuesday, the year 8's going to the college did a college test to see what class they were put in, but even though this was two tests, English and Maths, the testing was only part of what classes you got into at the college. Also in Week 9 was my college enrollment, as well as a lot of other people. On Thursday Week 9, we had had to listen to the Year 8 speeches all last block. One of them was really funny, and that speech got 2nd place, but only because there wasn't enough reasons on the topic.

In class:
In class this term, we have done lots and Maths, and revisions over what we have already done so that we remembered it for the college test. We have mostly done Algebra and Measurement, although we did go over fractions a bit for the test.
In groups of three or four, we were assigned to do two infographics, one after the other. My first one was about the life cycle of a dragonfly, then we did one one on 8 Ways To Develop A Growth Mindset.
Overall, I have learnt a lot this term, and am excited for next term as it is my last term at Te Awamutu Intermediate.  Next term is full of new opportunities, and things I am involved in like Sailing. There is the Grandparents Concert and final assembly at the end of next term, which I will be getting a certificate for, for dishes.

Au Revoir.
