Week 9 Term 3

Bonjour;

It's the last week of Term 3!
This week is a sort of quiet week compared to last week (Week 8) because there are no sports going on. But there is a big non-sport event happening.
The event is Murray's Bay exchange. A few weeks ago, some band students from our school went up to a place in New Zealand called Murray's Bay, and they stayed there for one night only. This week, on Tuesday, the Murray's Bay students from Murray's Bay came to our school and stayed one night (Tuesday night), like we did when we went over to their school. They left yesterday (Wednesday). The reason they came over was to collaborate with our band students and put together a concert for us to watch yesterday afternoon at school.
This Thursday, Extension Art has been cancelled, so I didn't do that today.
This week we and Year 7 speech finals in front of the whole school. They were all entertaining and good to listen to. The placings of 1st, 2nd and 3rd went to Ethan, Brylee-Ella, and Alice, from third to first. Today (Thursday), we are listening to the Year 8 speech finals, and there will be placings for that, too.
On Thursday afternoon in the last block of school, we listened to the Year 8 speech finals. No one from our class got into the finals, which was different to last year, because last year there was a year 8 in the finals who got a placing.

Week 8 Term 3

Bonjour;

Things going on this week:
AIMS is over (it was on all last week), but there are more sports things starting up this week.
This week Sports Camp is on, but there are only four people from our class going to that.
The Ski Trip is also on, and the people going to the Ski Trip (only two from our class) left yesterday morning, and I think they are gone for the whole week.

For Tech Arts, the year 8's are still doing art, and the year 7's are in food. For Art, the year 8's are making 3D caravans. I have so far done all the paper macheing, I think, because I have finished two layers of normal newspaper and one layer of white normal paper.

We have started learning what an infographic is. We are also going to create an explanation infographic this week. For our first infographic, most of the class are doing something basic like a life cycle of an animal or insect or the water cycle. My group has decided on the topic of the Life Cycle Of A Dragonfly. We finished ours at the start of Week 9. Next week (Week 9) we are starting a second infographic, but this time we can do something not so simple as our topic.

Week 7 Term 3

Bonjour;

This Monday during assembly, I got my Silver Badge! I finally got the one signature I needed to get it, and it was an Include Others, and those are the hardest to get. I still need heaps of signatures till my Gold Badge though, so I don't think I am going to get my Gold by the end of the year.

Next Term, Term 4, in Week 4 and 5 is Wearable Arts. I did Wearable Arts in my last year of Primary, but that is the only time, and I haven't done it since. Wearable Arts at Intermediate is every two years, so we only get to do it once. I think we get to do it in partners, but I won't be the model!

For Tech, the Year 8's (Me) are making 3D caravans. We all started a few weeks ago, and so far I have designed how I want my caravan to look on paper, traced the shape I want it, cut out cardboard, constructed, stuffed, taped, and now I am up to paper macheing the outsides of the caravan. I haven't quite finished paper macheing, but I am close to done. We need to do three layers of paper mache, and then a glaze coat, and I think after that we paint on our colors and the design we want.
